Meet Mindwalk Yoga
Hello! We’re Mindwalk Yoga, a not-for-profit online yoga studio, and we’re thrilled to be collaborating with Yogamatters this September.
Find out more and sign up to classes here: https://www.yogamatters.com/pages/community-yoga-classes-2023
I’m Zakiya Bishton, the founder, I’m a British Wheel of Yoga teacher, and I specialise in Yoga therapy for anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia. I’ve been teaching yoga for 13+ years and practising for 20+ years.
Mindwalk Yoga launched in 2020, and we are the UK’s first online yoga studio led by Black women. Our online studio is a welcoming haven for everyone of all abilities, ethnicities and mobilities. Our members are diverse people from all over the UK and beyond.
Our Yoga App offers 300+ on-demand yoga practices and livestream classes. We have a variety of styles, from energising to relaxing, including Vinyasa Flow, Sound Baths, Restorative Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Breathing Practices, Guided Meditations, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and so much more. We also have tailored practices and playlists to support your mental health.
We are a diverse group of women with knowledge and expertise in using yoga as a tool for general well-being as well as tailoring it to support conditions and life stages that we’re personally experiencing and going through, including anxiety and menopause.
Throughout September, you’ll get to meet some of the teachers as we host four special livestream events. We get started with me on Tuesday, 5th September, when I’ll share a Yoga Therapy for Anxiety class. This will be a gentle practice focused on supporting anxiety symptoms like racing thoughts and shallow breathing. I’ll be followed by Paula Hines, sharing a Restorative Yoga class on Tuesday, 12th September. Then you’ll have the opportunity to experience an immersive sound bath with our resident sound therapist, Cherelle Sappleton, on Wednesday, 20th September, and Natasha CocoRed Lee will follow with a creative Vinyasa Flow class on Tuesday, 26th September. All of the classes are open to everyone, and all abilities and levels are welcome.
I’ve been a supporter of Yogamatters for years so I am so excited about our collaboration and meeting some of the Yogamatters community.
